Springfield XDS 9mm & .45ACP Review

The Springfield XDS is an excellent conceal carry pistol. Despite its reasonable price tag, it is jam packed with features and is available in 9mm, .40cal, and .45ACP.

Springfield Armory, Inc was founded in 1974 and was established under the authority of General George Washington the United States’ first armory. While the original armory was closed in 1968 and turned into a museum, Springfield Armory, Inc still manufacturers firearms to this day. Most well known for the Springfield M1A rifle and the M1911 pistol, Springfield makes many other firearms. Their Springfield XD line is a very popular product line, including the XD, XD Mod2, XDM, and XDS. These pistols are built to fit many different needs.

The Springfield XDS – great for conceal carry

Springfield XDS Fiber Sights

The Springfield XDS is the smallest pistol in the XD series as it is a single stack pistol, providing an ultra thin profile to reduce printing while conceal carrying. The XDS has a 3.3″ barrel model chambered in 9mm, .40cal, and .45acp as well as 4″ barrel model chambered in 9mm and .45acp. Naturally, 9mm provides the greatest carrying capacity of the three calibers, making it a very popular choice as a conceal carry weapon (CCW).

It is a feature rich, reliable, compact pistol at a very reasonable price point. It comes standard with excellent safety features like a grip safety, trigger safety, and loaded chamber indicator. It is ambidextrous and has interchangeable back straps to fit all shooters. And the red fiber front sight provides a bright, easy to acquire sight picture for fast and accurate shooting – great for any kind of shooting.

Due to the popularity of Springfield Armory and the versatility of the XD product line, there is sizeable aftermarket support for the entire XD line, providing shooters with many options to customize and accessorize this conceal carry pistol.

The video from sootch00 does an excellent, thorough review of the Springfield XDS in 9mm and .45ACP. It covers the features, shooting comfort, disassembly, out of the box accessories, and even compares it to the S&W M&P and Glock 43.
