Shot Show 2017: New Nemo Arms AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor

Shot Show 2017 has brought out a teaser video from Nemo Arms for a new AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor that is very intriguing. Several points in the video made me stop and study it further. This AR-10 is going to have features no other AR-10 has.

Nemo Arms is most well known in the firearms industry for introducing the Nemo Omen, a .300 win mag AR that has the recoil less than a .308 AR-10. It is quite the impressive piece of engineering and probably the most unique shooting experience I’ve ever had. But Nemo makes more than just their .300 win mag Nemo Omen, they make ARs in other calibers.

Shot Show 2017 has brought out a teaser video from Nemo Arms for a new AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor that is very intriguing. Several points in the video made me stop and study it further. This AR-10 is going to have features no other AR-10 has.

Nemo Arms AR-10

First off, this is an incredibly beautiful AR-10. The sleek grey… the carbon fiber barrel… the striking edges and angles… I’m sorry, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, the new Nemo Arms AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Nemo Arms AR-10 Lower Receiver

Lower receiver

The lower receiver’s design is unique, and beautiful. The coolest part though, is the ambidextrous bolt release and bolt catch. Most full-ambi AR-10s only allow the right handed side to release the bolt, not catch the bolt and lock it back. That lever design allows the user to pull it back and release the bolt, or push the lever forward and lock the bolt back. I sure hope Nemo hasn’t patented that design so other manufacturers can copy it. Also present is an ambidextrous safety selector.

Nemo Arms Upper and Lower Receiver

Upper and lower receiver

The upper and lower receiver both have some beautiful curves and edges to it. The milling cuts out as much of the receivers as possible to lighten the load, even hollowing out the area by the takedown pin allowing for easier disassembly. The left hand side also features what looks to be an ambidextrous mag release. Nemo Arms sure went out of their way to make a true fully ambidextrous AR-10.

Nemo Arms Charging Handle

Ambidextrous charging handle

Not surprisingly, this AR-10 features an ambidextrous charging handle. I have a similar charging handle on my rifle and really like it. This charging handle design makes it easier to charge the rifle, and allows for fast right hand side operation. The top picatinny rail is cut down the center to further lighten the rifle.

Nemo Arms Adjustable Gas Block and Carbon Fiber Barrel

Barrel and gas system

Finally, the barrel is a carbon fiber wrapped barrel allowing for a very lightweight barrel that disperses heat faster than a traditional barrel, while still remaining incredibly accurate.

Atop this barrel is, not surprisingly, and adjustable gas block that allows for better operation while shooting suppressed with less gas in the face. The gas system is is the Nemo Arms +2 gas system, which is two inches longer than a standard length gas system to help time the BCG with a shortened dwell time, reducing recoil.

The Nemo Arms AR-10 also takes advantage of Nemo’s patented recoil reduction system, similar to the one on their .300 Win Mag AR-10. This rifle’s felt recoil will be incredibly lightweight, unlike any other 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 on the market.

Nemo Arms AR-10

All in all, this is an absolutely beautiful rifle that I would love to shoot some day.

It will have a MSRP of $5,100.
