Self Defense Analysis of the Cascade Mall Mass Shooting

Why do you need a gun at the mall or grocery store? Well, this is why. Bad things can happen anywhere, at any time, even in the “nice” parts of town.

John from Active Self Protection analyzes the mass shooting from the Cascade Mall, Burlington, Washington. It is heartbreaking to watch some of these people attempt to flee, but be unable to. The “Run, Hide, Fight” guidelines are very good, but not everyone is able to follow them – especially if you’re the first victim.

No one expects to face a mass shooting like this, and statistically we won’t, but this simply goes to show how quickly a normal day can turn into a mass shooting. Pay attention to what’s going on around you, know where the exits are, and be prepared to defend yourself at a moment’s notice.

The shooting took place on September 23, 2016 and left five people dead. The shooter was Arcan Cetin, a recent Turkish immigrant. He was arrested the day after the shooting and confessed three days after the shooting.

It is worth mentioning that a gun shop refused to sell a handgun to the shooter just hours before the shooting. That gun shop saved lives.
