Due to the increase in optics quality, variable optics have become increasing popular in recent years. In particular, 1-4 magnified scopes are everywhere. They provide a nice balance between a red dot an an 4x fixed Trijicon ACOG, while remaining lightweight, clear, and budget effective. Variable optics are comfortable, and common, atop AR-15s or other intermediate caliber rifles.
Competition, hunting, home defense, patrol
The Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4x24mm, and other variable magnification rifle optics like it, are extremely versatile scopes. The 1x magnification doesn’t provide the same forgiveness of a red dot, but can still offer plenty of eye relief to not require a precise cheek weld – making the Tango4 1-4 a great optic on a home defense or patrol rifle. The optic’s motion activated illuminated reticle makes the scope great for evening and night time shooting. For longer shots, shooters can quickly crank it up to 4x magnification thanks to a raised throw lever, making longer shots and (more importantly) target identification a breeze.
The built in quick throw lever allows for fast and easy transition between magnifications, making the Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4 optic excellent on a competition rifle.
The quick versatility between the different magnifications for different applications makes the Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4x rifle scope great for a wide variety of applications. Why buy several AR-15s with different scopes when you can have one scope that does it all?
Overview of the entire Sig Sauer Tango4 Product Line
Interested in an optic with a little more magnification? The Sig Sauer Tango4 product line also comes in 3-12x42mm, 4-16x44mm, and 6-24x50mm versions.
Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4 Overview
This versatile optic features Sig Sauer’s Spectracoat anti-reflection lens coatings providing superior light transmission, low dispersion glass for industry leading optical clarity, a IPX-7 waterproof housing, a First Focal Plane (FFP) illuminated reticle in BDC and MIL/MOA variations, Sig Sauer’s MOTAC motion activated illumination, and the LockDown Zero System for a turret rotation counter, resettable zero, zero stop, and auto-locks down on zero – preventing any accidental adjustments to scope’s turrets.
The Tango4 1-4 is backed by Sig Sauer’s 5 year electronic component warranty covers all defects in the electronic components and their infinite guarantee provides a lifetime guarantee on everything else.
The Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4 also has the option of using Sig Sauer’s SBT custom ballistic turrets, custom etching the optic’s turrets specifically for a desired load for pinpoint accuracy at any range.
“It’s one of those things you could just shoot with all day. I mean wow. It’s just clear, it’s one of those setups that makes it simple.” –The Wound Channel about the Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4 optic
Sig Sauer Tango4 1-4 Reticles
The Tango4 1-4 comes in four First Focal Plane (FFP) illuminated reticle options – a horseshoe dot BDC reticle for 5.56/7.62 or for .300 Blackout and a MIL and MOA reticle. If you’re running one of the more common calibers, the BDC shows shooters the correct drop out to 800 yards on the 5.56/7.62 BDC reticle and out to 600 yards for the .300 Blackout BDC reticle. The horseshoe around the center dot provides excellent quick target acquisition for fast and close shooting, while the center dot provides a fine aiming point for precise shots. The First Focal Plane ensures the reticle stays the correct size, no matter the magnification, to keep drop calculations always accurate.
The Tango4 1-4×24 features Sig Sauer’s “MOTAC” technology, which means the illumination is manually or motion activated. The Sig Sauer MOTAC technology preserves battery life, while providing the benefits of an always on reticle – making this the Sig Sauer 1-4×24 a great variable optic for home defense. Simply pick up the rifle and the reticle turns on, ready to go. Still concerned about battery life? The Tango4 scopes have a slot for an extra battery to ensure shooters are never left without illumination.
