It’s been several months since I’ve done an IDPA pistol event. Weather, other events, and other things in life have kept me busy. It was fun to get back out there and do a pistol only event. Thanks to competing in other formats, I managed to snag myself a procedural for reloading across an opening. Would have bumped up a place or two if I hadn’t done that. But hey, that’s why we do these things, to learn and build good habits.

I finished first in my division and seventh overall. I’ve noted some areas to improve and am working on training them.

My Gear

For this event I didn’t run my competition pistol and instead ran my carry piece, the Walther PPQ M2 Navy. It was sporting the Streamlight Weapon Light, which is not IDPA legal, so I had to compete in the “Outlaw Division.” Since it is a small local shooting event hosted by Texas Tactical, he had no problem letting me use my competition piece. Like always, I wore my Volund Gearworks Atlas Cobra belt. I rocked my custom leather+kydex holster from GW Kydex here in Austin, as well as a custom Kydex mag carrier. I highly recommend him, quality work.
