Feinstein Claims the Most Popular Firearm in America is not “Common Use”

In the recent hearing concerning the appointing of a new United States Supreme Court Justice, Dianne Feinstein asked the appointee, Brett Kavanaugh, about his beliefs on the 2nd Amendment. He handled himself very professionally in this line of questioning and stuck straight to the topic and context at hand. Feinstein stuck to emotions, sensationalism, and faulty logic.

Dianne Feinstein is a snake.

“Assault weapons are not in common use” – Dianne Feinstein

She is referring to AR-15s and similar rifles using her own arbitrary definition – a definition that doesn’t have any consistency across the United States. The AR-15 is the most popular firearm in America.

Kavanaugh proceeds to point out that fact.

“Semi-automatic rifles are widely possessed in the United States. There are millions and millions and millions of semi-automatic rifles that are possessed. So that seemed to fit ‘common use’ in not being ‘dangerous and unusual’ weapon. – Brett Kavanaugh

Feinstein acted… quite immature and repeatedly tried to interrupt him when he was answering her own question. These hearings have a structure and courtesy to them, and she could not abide by that because he was saying something she did not like. When she finally pushed through with her interruption, she adopted an extremely condescending tone and asked an incredibly stupid question.

“You’re saying the numbers determine common use? ‘Common use’ is an activity. It’s not common storage or possession, it’s use. So what you said, was that these weapons are commonly used. They’re not.” – Dianne Feinstein

While she agreed that millions and millions of Americans own AR-15s and similar rifles, she claimed they aren’t ‘in use.’ She made this claim without any source, reasoning, or further clarification and her statement resides on the assumption that millions of Americans would spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on an item that they would put in a safe and not use at all.

The idiocy is mind boggling.

Kavanaugh proceeded to continue to handle the line of questioning with professionalism and Feinstein couldn’t stop interrupting him. Feinstein would only focus on her arbitrary and unproven definition of ‘common use’ and Kavanaugh continued to broaden the discussion and look at the entire context and scope of his statements.

“How do you reconcile what you’ve just said, with the hundreds of school shootings using assault weapons?” – Dianne Feinstein

That is a straight up lie coming from a sitting Senator. It is a lie that defies logic and is irrelevant to the line of questioning and demonstrates even a complete lack of understanding (or respect) for due process. She expected Kavanaugh to rule against ‘assault weapons’ because of school shootings. That would have been a clear abuse of power because, at the time of Kavanaugh’s ruling in question, he did not have the power to rule against the Supreme Court of the United States of America. When Kavanaugh proceeded to absolutely school her on his job and limits of his power, she didn’t acknowledge it at all and changed the subject.

Dianne Feinstein is a snake, a liar, and has no respect for the balance of power of the US government.

Personal beliefs and politics aside, the way Feinstein handled the entire line of questioning was unprofessional, showed a lack of courtesy for someone else, and is not how a sitting Senator (or anyone over the age of 12) should act.
