Full disassembly of a handgun for cleaning doesn’t need to be done very often, but it’s good to know how to do so anyways.
One of the great things about the Glock handgun is the simplicity and similarity between all of the Glock handgun models. Furthermore, Glock’s reliability means a complete disassembly of the handgun is rarely needed.
Condition: Yellow provides a quick walkthrough on how to disassemble and re-assemble a Glock 19, which covers most other Glock models as well.
Double & triple check the Glock is empty
One of the big problems with the Glock’s design is in the disassembly process. The trigger must be pulled in order to take apart this handgun, which is how people shoot themselves. Rack that slide several times and look directly at that chamber to ensure it is empty. Sweeping the chamber with your finger is also a good idea to ensure an empty pistol before the trigger is pulled.
